„Narrow-minded, stupid, reactionary. There’s so much prejudice towards small towns. Sometimes I’ve not said that I’m from Säffle because of all the comments“, sagt Tomas, Sänger der schwedischen Indie-Band The Rhymes.
Das Lied „Säffle“ zeigt eine andere Seite des Kleinstadtlebens und will den Konflikt zwischen Stadt und Land ausräumen. Wie im Oktober, als die Reime von einem fast 2000 Personen umfassenden Publikum mit stehenden Ovationen bedacht wurden:
„We played „Säffle“ live and it was euphoric to see the Stockholm audience putting their hands in the air and cheering loudly afterwards. Same thing in Berlin two month ago.This song is an accolade to the smalltown people all over the world. Against everything negative written about it, showing the other side: the openness.“
Säffle ist auch die Stadt, in der Tomas mehrere Pride-Veranstaltungen organisiert hat, ohne dass man erwartet hätte, dass die Leute kommen, das Ergebnis mit mehreren tausend Menschen hat alle überrascht. Zudem fungiert er oft selber als Moderator dieser Events.
Das Album von The Rhymes erscheint am 17.04. und im Juni kommt die Band auch wieder zu uns auf Tour. Hier die ersten Daten, mehr folgt:
