Einmal in den Abgrund und zurück: Janice Prix mit neuer Indie-Noir-Single „Blood/Rush“ über die Teufelspirale der Sucht

Cineastische Indie-Popsongs, gepaart mit einer gewissen Düsternis ist das Markenzeichen von JANICE PRIX. Das Band-Quartett aus der schwedischen Industriestadt Trollhättan hat es sich mit ihrem Indie-Pop / Alternative Rock zum Ziel gesetzt, hymnische Songs mit starken Botschaften zu kombinieren.

Mit “Blood / Rush” veröffentlichen JANICE PRIX am 17.04.2020 die erste neue Single aus ihrem kommenden Debüt-Album “Waking”, das noch in diesem Jahr bei popup-records erscheint. Freunde von Hurts, White Lies, oder Chvrches können hier bedenkenlos reinhören.

“Blood / Rush” handelt von der Teufelsspirale Sucht. Der Song zeichnet den Weg in den Abgrund und zurück und thematisiert dabei all die damit verbundenen Abhängigkeiten und Verzweiflungen “I think the contradiction between upbeat music and dark lyrics sometimes are necessary to really convey the message. Just look at The Smiths.” erklärt JANICE PRIX-Sänger Richard Henry über den Entstehungsprozess von “Blood / Rush”.

Das Musikvideo zu “Blood / Rush” stammt ebenfall vollumfassend aus der Feder von JANICE PRIX, die sich als künstlerisches Kollektiv begreifen. Gedreht wurde hauptsächlich in einer ehemaligen Papierfabrik in dem abgelegenen schwedischen Dorf Fengersfors. Richard Henry’s Verwandte arbeiteten dort über Generationen in der Papierfabrik bis ihrer Schließung.

JANICE PRIX-Schlagzeuger Victor Hillström zum Musikvideo: “We made a conscious effort to explore polar opposites in terms of the imagery we wanted convey and the song, which is quite upbeat in itself. We explored some interesting avenues creatively during filming, some involving senseless beatings of inanimate objects, which didn’t make the cut in the end, and other ideas that felt right at the time but just didn’t work out. The main idea was at the beginning to channel our inner darkness, but it turned out to be a quite fun and pleasant experience in the end as we retreated to Richards family summer house and had a great time instead. I think we got the message across visually anyhow.”
