On my trip to Salzburg in Summer 2020 I had the chance to play on the pianos of #openpianoforrefugees. Here it’s me and Katharina-Lia Strobl playing a nice piano improvisation together at Mozart Square.

Open Piano for Refugees places freely accessible pianos in public places. They connect people of all backgrounds through music and collect donations for their social music institute DoReMi. I’m playing the smash hit „Wellermann“ at Arminius Market Hall in Berlin. The song is a traditional 19th century sea shanty from New Zealand. The song reflects the hope that the time of confinement will soon be over – whether you’re cooped up on a whaler during „Tonguin“ or not supposed to leave your own four walls in a pandemic. Anyway, think positive and never lose hope.
